A/Prof Tim Kleinig is a neurologist and head of the stroke Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospitals. He is the Director of Clinical Trials (Stroke Research Programme SAHMRI) and the Clinical Director of acute stroke for Country Health SA. After finishing Neurology training and a stroke fellowship he completed a basic science PhD in intracerebral haemorrhage. He is actively involved in stroke research, and has been heavily involved in several pivotal acute stroke trials. His particular research interests include neuroimaging of stroke, acute stroke interventions, stroke epidemiology, rare stroke subtypes and acute intervention. He fosters initiatives at state and national levels to improve quality stroke care.
