  • Tudor G. Jovin, MD, Professor of Neurology at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University is the Chairman of Neurology at Copper University Healthcare and Director of the Cooper Neurological Institute.

    Dr. Jovin received his medical degree from the Heinrich Heine University Medical School in Dusseldorf, Germany, and completed a residency in Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He subsequently completed a cerebrovascular fellowship followed by a fellowship in Interventional Vascular Neurology at UPMC Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

    Dr. Jovin is an expert in the interventional and non-interventional treatment of the entire spectrum of stroke and cerebrovascular disorders, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. He is board certified in Neurology with additional board certification in Vascular Neurology and Critical Care Neurology. Dr. Jovin was one of the first interventional neurologists in the US and is CAST certified in Endovascular Neurosurgery.

    Dr. Jovin has served as principal investigator for several multi-center international acute stroke thrombectomy trials including REVASCAT, a randomized trial of endovascular therapy versus medical therapy for stroke within 8 hours of symptoms onset and DAWN, a multicenter, international, randomized trial of endovascular therapy versus medical therapy in the beyond 6-hour time window. Both studies are considered landmark studies in the development of treatments for acute stroke due to large vessel occlusion. He has served or currently serves as member of executive/steering committees for several multicenter national and international trials. He serves as editorial board member for several medical journals including Stroke, Journal of Neuroimaging and Interventional Neurology. Dr. Jovin has published more than 300 articles in peer-reviewed journals or book chapters. Recently published studies have identified Dr. Jovin as the highest impact author in the neurointerventional field.

    Dr. Jovin is a past president of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology and serves or has served on several other committees or boards of national and international societies including the American Heart Association, American Academy of Neurology and the American Society of Neuroimaging.
